In the case of a substructure for upright scaffoldings over sloping walls, in the case of which bridge bearing members serving as an underlying surface for vertical posts of the upright scaffolding engage over the upper border of opposite sloping walls, the invention provides that the inherently rigid bridge bearing members exhibit supporting plates at their mitred ends and form an individual-bearing-member platform, in which the bridge bearing members, pivoted above the upper border into the horizontal, are supported, in a self-supporting manner, on the sloping walls by means of their supporting plates.
