The invention relates to a method and a device for removing ghosting in combined damping and inking units, having a distributor roller which is assigned to the last damping-medium applicator roller and the first ink applicator roller. The object of the invention consists in providing a method and a device for removing ghosting in combined damping and inking units, with the aid of which the ink/damping medium balance achieved after start-up of the machine is also maintained in the case of roller switching processes adapted to the variable running-on conditions. According to the invention, the object is achieved in that the distributor roller bears against both the last damping-medium applicator roller and the first ink applicator roller when the printing machine is started up and, after achieving the ink/damping medium balance, the distributor roller is engaged while the machine is running preferably as a rider roller against the last damping-medium applicator roller from the central control panel. <IMAGE>
