PURPOSE:To facilitate treatment for sheet jam by varying the mode of the motion of middle part when the upper body is opened according to whether it is single side or two-side mode when a jam is sensed on a sheet transport path for single side or two-side treatment. CONSTITUTION:When sheet jam signal is given at the time of two-side mode, a solenoid 37 is energized to turn a lever 35 to the 35' position, and when the upper body 2 is lifted, the middle part 3a is also lifted by a spring 33 to cause opening of both sheet transport paths A, B for single side and two-side treatment, and now it is practicable to remove stagnating copying sheets easily. In the single side mode, on the other hand, the solenoid 37 is maintained unenergized even though a sheet jam signal is given, and the lever 35 is engaged with a pin 34 by spring to hinder floating-up of the middle part 3a, and heaving of the upper body 2 opens only the sheet transport path A for single side treatment to a great extent. This enhances jam treating effectiveness. |
