PURPOSE:To effectively remove noise which is the shape of parched sesame seeds mixed with salt without dropping a picture quality in a short period by selecting an intermediate value from three adjoining picture element values, making it into one picture element value and executing successively such a processing concerning all picture elements. CONSTITUTION:The value of respective picture elements is successively read from a picture memory 1 directly to shifters 2 and 3. These picture elements become the picture element of a certain position, the picture element of the position in which only one picture element is dislocated in one direction from the position and the picture element of the position in which only one picture element is dislocated in the direction orthogonal to the direction. These 3 picture elements are sent to an adder 4, a maximum detector 5 and a minimum detector 6, those outputs are sent to a computing element 7 and the intermediate value is selected from three picture element values. The intermediate value obtained like this is written into a picture memory 8, and the processing is successively executed concerning all picture elements of the picture stored in the picture memory 1. |
