A speed reducer for road vehicles which comprises at least one speed-reducing bar 7 mounted to move at the top, on a support 1 which can be bedded in the roadway in such a position that the bar extends transversely to the direction of travel of the vehicles while being flush with the surface S of the roadway. The speed-reducing bar is also subjected to the action of an operating device 14 capable of raising it or lowering it. This operating device is preferably formed by a wedge 14 which can be displaced in translation in one direction or another over a horizontal supporting plane 16, the upper sloping face 13 of which interacts with a lower sole 11, at the same slope, of the speed-reducing bar 7. <IMAGE> |
