PURPOSE:To save a thermal transfer ribbon used for correction and the correction time, by moving a correcting means from tail to head of a line on the basis of each segmental unit of a character string, and correcting each character from the head to the tail of the character string of each unit. CONSTITUTION:When printing of a word string is finished, a thermal head 38 is located at the tail of the word string (the tail of a line). With an input from a LINE-OUT key, the head 38 is moved to the position of the first character of a word at the tail of the line. The head 35 then sequentially corrects the characters of the word by one character at a time, in the direction of the tail of the line, while being moved to the tail of the word. The head 38 is then moved to the first character of the second word from the tail of the line, and corrects the word while being moved in the direction of the tail of the line, similarly to the above. Similarly, the words are sequentially corrected, starting with the word at the tail of the line, in the direction of the head of the line, the characters of each of the word being sequentially corrected in the direction of the tail of the line. Therefore, when the word, characters or the like to be corrected are present at the center or the tail of a printed line, correction can be performed speedily, and a thermal transfer ribbon 36 and correction time can be saved. |
