When locking doors of all types on one side, in particular bathroom doors and toilet doors, the relevant square spindle of the door lock is divided in two in the centre and, in the handles, is mounted displaceably to the right and left in corresponding shafts. By displacing the spindle to one side, the spindle part of the outer handle is released from contact with the lever mechanism of the catch and thus from its opening function. This state of being locked on one side is maintained until the inner handle is pressed down and the spindle is rotated out of an arresting means and springs back into the original position, which can be used by both handles.
