A method of editing a user program for a program controller (PC) during execution of it. When it is requested to edit the user program, the instruction fetch is stopped and the discontinuation of the instruction fetch is informed. After the stop of the instruction fetch is confirmed, the required editing is executed, and the completion of the editing is informed. As the completion of the editing is informed, the instruction fetch is resumed and the execution of the user program is started. These control cycles are automatically carried out in the program. Therefore, the programmer is liberated from the job of stopping or restarting the execution of the user program. |
