PURPOSE:To enable to damp the vibration of a structure in a short while, by transmitting relative displacement caused between the structure and a base by vibration of the structure to a generator, and operating braking means by use of the electric power produced by said generator. CONSTITUTION:A structure 3 such as an oil tank is supported on a frame 1, and a base 4 is fixed on a foundation 2. A generator 5 is mounted on the base 4. Further, a substantially sector-shaped, rotatable plate 7 is supported by a bracket 6 in a pivotally movable manner by a pin 8 and an arcuate rack 9 formed at the lower part of the rotatable plate 7 is held in mesh with a pinion 10 fixed to a turning shaft of the generator 5. A pin 11 is fixed to an upper part of the rotatable plate 7 and it is fitted into a groove 13 formed in a connecting member 12. Further, a pair of braking means 15 for applying brake to the rotatable plate 7 are supported on the base 4 by means of posts 14. The braking means 15 are operated by use of electric power produced by the generator 5. |
