A jigsaw puzzle for the formation of mosaic compositions for educational and/or ornamental use comprises a base in the form of a wooden board (1) carrying a representation (2) which corresponds to the mosaic composition to be formed, and a plurality of flat component pieces (3) which can be fitted together along their edges to form the composition. The component pieces have front surfaces (5) constituted by veneers of various kind of wood and back surfaces (6) which are adapted to be fixed to the base board (1) by means of adhesive.
