A protective device for electrical mains appliances, in particular hand appliances connected by a cable (8) to a connecting plug or similar, comprises in the region of the connecting plug a protective switch (16) which can be actuated by means of control lines (11, 12) contained in the cable by one or more sensors (40, 41) arranged in the appliance (7), supplied by a low-voltage source (17, 18) and sensitive to moisture, water and/or the penetration of electrically conductive objects into the orifices of the housing leading to the parts of the appliance connected to the mains voltage. |
