A joint in a extruded elastomer mat (12) composed of a single piece or separate longitudinal sections (11, 13) which bridges an expansion joint in a roadway has downwardly projecting ribs (17) on the edges parallel to the joint which interlock with a groove opening upward in an edge or intermediate profile (4), leaving an empty residual space (21) between the ribs and the lower periphery of the groove. This residual space (21) is filled with a sealing compound (20) made of synthetic resin elastomer having approximately the same hardness as the mat (12), said compound being poured from above through orifices or slits (26) in the mat (12) which form casting channels and are completely filled by the sealing compound. This creates a permanent connection between the ribs (17) and the corresponding retaining profiles (4). If the mat (12) consists of separate longitudinal sections, the casting slits (26) are formed by the joints between the sections (11, 13). A strip which overlaps the insulation (9) of the roadway is molded on the edge of the mat or on its edge section (11). |
