The regulator has a road speed detector input and driver-operated controls to pre-set the required maximum and minimum speeds. When the pre-set required maximum speed, say 100 km/hr is reached, the regulator switches off the electrical supply to the high voltage ignition coil and simultaneously operates the clutch. - The kinetic energy of the vehicle, aided by possible downhill gradients and/or favourable tailwinds keeps the vehicle moving until it slows to the pre-set minimum speed. When the speed drops below the pre-set minimum say 95 km/hr, the regulator reconnects the ignition supply and engages the clutch, so that the vehicle is again running normally. Significant economies can be made on hills with inclines of less than 5%, and with tailwinds greater than Force four.(0/0) |
