PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the degree of surface waviness after recording an image by limiting the water absorption of a base sheet composed essentially of wood pulp to a value within a specific range, and providing an ink reception layer on the base sheet. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording sheet is constructed of a paper composed essentially of wood pulp whose cob size by a cob size method water suction test is 1.0-15.0 g/m<2> as a base sheet, and an ink receptive layer is coated at least, on one of the faces of the base sheet. The cob size of the base sheet composed essentially of the wood pulp is 1.0-15.0 g/m<2> but is more preferably 2.0-13.0 g/m<2> and further, is much more preferably 2.0-11.0 g/m<2> . The degree of the surface waviness of the sheet face after drying a recorded image can be whittled by providing the ink receptive layer on the base sheet. The reason is that when limiting the cob size to a value within the range of 1.0-15.0 g/m<2> , the difference in the locally generated unevennesses is minimized owing to the extremely low degree of the swell and stress relaxation of the wood pulp, when the cob size is set within the range of 1.0-15.0 g/m<2> . |
