<p>An apparatus and a method for operating of a control turn-off semiconductor device (10) provide for determining the actual control electrode (G) to cathode (K) voltage upon the application (16) of a turn-off control signal by adjusting (28,30,32) the apparent value (36) of that voltage by a value diG representing the voltage drop due to inductance (LG), (LK) in lead line (18,20). The adjusted value (38) is employed to develop an output signal (44) which indicates that the device (10) has been turned off. The output signal (44) may also be employed (46) to reduce the value of the control signal (D) from a first, relatively high value to a second, relatively low value.</p> |
