The process comprises treatment with ammoniacal solution. The aqueous solution with 2.5-30 per cent ammonia content is agitated at room temperature for 15-20 minutes. The separated organic phase has a methacrylate content of 968 per cent, and the aqueous phase containing methacrylate and methanol is returned to the process.
