<p>PURPOSE:To shorten arithmetic operation time required for encoding by selecting a pattern vector giving minimum distortion after selecting a rough pattern vector with the aid of a binary dispersion pattern vector. CONSTITUTION:A mean value arithmetic operation circuit 5 arithmetic-operates the means value 105 of an inputted vector signal 101 converted by a preprocessing part 1 and sends it to a binary vectoring circuit 6. The circuit 6 compares the signal 101 with the mean value 105 and generates a binary vector signal 106. Then, a comparison circuit 7 compares the signal 106 and the binary vector signal stored in a binarized vector table 8, selects an index 107 and outputs it to a code book 3. The code 3 output the pattern vector corresponding to the index 107 to a minimum distortion arithmetic operation circuit 9. The circuit 9 arithmetic-operates the comparison of it and the signal 101 based on the selected pattern vector and outputs the code number of the pattern vector feeding the minimum distortion distance.</p> |
