New water-soluble polysaccharides. These polysaccharides extracted from Escherichia coli and from Klebsiella pneumoniae contain less than 1% of proteins, less than 0.5% of osamines, from 65 to 75% of neutral oses, from 18 to 27% of uronic acids, from 5 to 9% of pyruvic acid in the form of pyruvilidene, and have a molecular mass greater than 50,000. They have an immunomodulating activity which makes them useful in the field of therapeutics. |
