PURPOSE:To allow load temp. rise from a low temp., shorten the time for cell starting, and simplify the system without use of any refrigerant from outside the system by using a mixture of crude fuel methanol and water to a refrigerant for a condenser on a bypass. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of water and methanol in a crude fuel tank 1 is sent by pumps 2, 3 to a burner 4 of reformer and a gasifying/modifying part 5, and a modified gas is produced. Together with suction air this modified gas is supplied by a blower 9 back a cooling air system C and a reaction air system P of cell, to raise the temp. of the cell. When the cell temp. becomes 40-50 deg.C, solenoid valves 7, 8 are closed, and other solenoid valves 11, 12 on a bypass 10 are opened to send modified gas to the fuel system N of the cell via a condenser 13 as a fuel gas, and temp. rise is commenced by battery reaction heat. As a refrigerant the methanol/water mixture is supplied by another pump 14 to this condenser 13 from the tank 1 via a feedback path 15, while steam in the fuel gas is removed from a drain 16 as condensed water, and the cell is supplied in the condition little water is contained. |
