PURPOSE:To reduce the corrosiveness of mild steel by incorporating a specified trace amt. of a hindered phenolic compd. into the atmosphere contg. N-N'- dimethylacetamide having high corrosiveness to mild steel. CONSTITUTION:Since the part of mild steel is highly corroded in the atmosphere contg. N,N'-dimethylacetamide, a hindered phenolic compd. such as 2,6-di-tertiary butyl-P-cresol, 2,2'-methylenebis-(4-methyl-6-tertairy butylphenol), or 1,1'3-tris-(2- methyl4-hydroxy-5-tertiary butylphenol)butane is added and incorporated in the amt. of 100-1000ppm into the atmosphere, and the corrosiveness to mild steel is remarkably reduced. |
