PURPOSE:To eliminate unnaturalness at the boundary part of a synthetic image by generating the synthetic image by referring to similarity in two images in an area within a certain distance from the boundary of the two images in case of synthesizing binary images. CONSTITUTION:The synthetic image can be generated by detecting 26 the similarity by comparing the small areas of plural images to be synthesized, comparing 27 the similarity with a threshold value TH, and connecting the small areas which satisfy a prescribed condition. At this time, since the threshold value TH is changed corresponding to the distance from the boundary, a part between two image signals can be interpolated smoothly. In such a way, it is possible to synthesize the natural images of the binary image considered hard to generate in an on-going device, and to eliminate the unnaturalness in the boundary even in case of synthesizing the binary image having meaning in one image element like a character or a line drawing and the binary image in which light-and-shade is expressed by plural images like an image on which a dither processing is applied. |
