HEATABLE GUIDE TUBE AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE: To provide a heatable conduit which is suitable for heating fluid, by using a conductive polymer tube showing PTC behavior as a heater. CONSTITUTION: A conductive polymer tube 3 is used for a heater which shows PTC(positive temperature coefficient of resistivity) behavior and contains organic polymer and granular conductive filler dispersed in the polymer. The conductive polymer tube 3 surrounds an electrode 4 wound around a nylon core 5 and can be pushed out on the nylon core 5 covered with the electrode 4 so that an electric insulating polyethylene armor 7 surrounds the conductive polymer tube 3. The conductive polymer layer 3 and nylon core 5 can be heated by the flow of electric current, so that a base material disposed to contact thermally fluid passing through the conduit 5 of the core 5 can be heated and held at a fixed temperature.
