The hydraulic gear machine exhibits two gears (10,11) meshing in external action, which exhibit a non-evolute and noncycloidal tooth system. The tooth system is characterized in that the line of action (E) exhibits at the pitch point (W) a small angle of action, 6 DEG for example, which increases with the distance of the action from the pitch point. The increase in the angle of action is kept so slight that the undercut at the tooth flank just does not reduce the overlap to values below 1. By these measures the ratio of delivery volume to structural volume of such gear machines can be definitely improved whilst maintaining a favourable number of teeth. <IMAGE>
