PURPOSE:To prevent the disappearance of a record in the presence of oxygen by forming a thin film of an intralaminar compd. in contact with an aq. soln. contg. a reducing agent and a salt contg. a metal ion which is reduced by an organometallic complex ion reduced by the reducing agent. CONSTITUTION:Smectite suspended in water is applied to a glass substrate 1 and dried to form a smectite layer. An aq. soln. contg. rhodium (III) complex ion such as Rh(bpy)3<3+> is brought into contact with the smectite layer to form a thin film 2 of an intralaminar compd. The substrate 1 and a glass sheet 3 are sealed with a sealant 5 and the space between the film 2 and the sheet 3 is filled with an aq. soln. 4 contg. triethanolamine as a reducing agent and silver nitrate as a salt contg. a metal ion. Rh<1+> produced by the photoreduction of Rh<3+> reacts in the presence of silver ion to deposit metallic silver. The rhodium complex returns to the original tervalent state and the color dies away but the color of the silver stands, so the disappearance of recorded information is prevented even in the presence of oxygen. |
