PURPOSE:To firmly join a protective plate to the magnetic layer side and to prevent the damage of a medium by changing the melting point of a glass in one direction along the joining direction between the magnetic layer and the protective plate. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head is so constituted that the melting point of a glass 14 which is fused to join magnetic layers 5a and 5b and protective plates 2a and 2b is changed in one direction along the joining direction between magnetic layers 5a and 5b and protective plates 2a and 2b. Consequently, when protective plates 2a and 2b are joined to the side of magnetic layers 5a and 5b, air bubbles in the glass 14 are concentrated to the glass surface on the low-melting point side and are easily discharged out of the glass 14 because the glass 14 is solidified successively from the high-melting point side. Thus, the magnetic head which is superior in mechanical strength and is prevented from damaging the medium is obtained. |
