PURPOSE:To prevent miscopying from occurring by allowing copying only when a contour unit exists in the front side of a developing unit which is used for an electrophotographic process in a contour mode. CONSTITUTION:The contour unit 50 can be mounted in three spots, an upper level, a middle level and a lower level. When the contour unit 50 is mounted in the middle level, miscopying occurs if the upper developing unit 6 is selected in the contour mode but a contoured image can be normally copied if the lower developing unit 8 is selected. Then, it is assumed that the contour mode is not received if the developing unit on a side upper than the contour unit 50 is selected. Even if the contour unit is replaced with the developing unit except one at the uppermost level, miscopying does not occur in the mode for forming the contoured image. |
