PURPOSE:To shorten correction time and reduce consumption of a ribbon, by correcting characters through grouping the characters for each identical paper feed position. CONSTITUTION:At the time of printing, character data on characters printed on a printing medium MA by a printing means MB is stored into a storage means MC. At the time of correcting characters, the paper feed position of the characters in a predetermined range specified by a correction instructing means MD is first detected by a paper feed position detecting means MF, and the characters are grouped for each identical paper feed position by a grouping means MG. Next, a correction order instructing means MH causes a correcting means ME to correct the characters in the predetermined range, for each group of the characters. The correcting means ME reads the characters in the predetermined range from the storage means MC, and corrects the characters at each identical paper feed position. By this, correction time is shortened, and a correction ribbon is prevented from being consumed at interruption in a continuous correcting operation. |
