<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound useful as an intermediate for raw materials of various compounds, economically in high yield, without producing by-products such as o-substituted halogenated benzene derivative, by using leucite as a catalyst in the halogenation of benzene or its derivative. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound is produced by reacting benzene and/or a benzene derivative with a halogenation agent in the presence of leucite as a catalyst, preferably in a liquid phase preferably at 0-200 deg.C, especially at 20-150 deg.C. The leucite used as a catalyst is a silicate having three-dimensional skeleton structure and is used by calcining, as necessary after drying, in the stream of air or an inert gas such as nitrogen or helium. The reaction can be preferably performed by batch process, semi-batch process or continuous process and the catalyst is used in the form of a fixed bed or suspended bed. A simple substance of halogen is used as the halogenation agent.</p> |
