PURPOSE:To shorten the checking time of an IC card by measuring the pressure applied to the card and changing the checking level in accordance with the measured pressure. CONSTITUTION:When an IC card 1 is put into a card reader, etc., the reader reads the piezo-stress value Pm out of the card 1 and instructs either one of various checks in response to the value Pm. In this case, the reader gives an un-check instruction to the card 1 in case the size of an IC chip 6 is less than 10mm<2> and the value Pm is less than 2,000kg/cm<2>. Then a light check instruction is delivered when the value Pm is equal to 2,000>=2,500kg/cm<2> for conduction check carried out between blocks of the card 1. A medium check instruction is given with the value Pm equal to 2,500>=3,000kb/cm<2> for function check of the four rules of arithmetic, etc. Furthermore a heavy check instruction is delivered with the value Pm larger than 3,000kg/cm<2> for test of the answer time of all addresses. Then the card reader decides that the card 1 is normal in each case when each check result is satisfactory. |
