PURPOSE:To perform the flaw detection of the different-material joint surface with high accuracy by making an ultrasonic wave beam incident on the different material joint surface at right angles and also moving a convergence type probe so that the convergence point of the ultrasonic wave beam meets the different- material joint surface. CONSTITUTION:The convergence type probe 5 which slants by alpha to the vertical direction of a tube axis O-O' is installed movably on a segment AB slanting by theta to the tube axis O-O' for a transition piece 1 having the different material joint surface 4 slanting by theta0. At this time, theta is determined by an equation I and alpha is determined by an equation II. Consequently, the ultrasonic wave beam 3 oscillated by the convergence type probe 5 is refracted at a point F and made incident on the different-material joint surface 4 at right angles, and its convergence position of the ultrasonic wave beam 3 is obtained on the different joint surface 4 at all times, so the high-accuracy ultrasonic flaw detection is possible. |
