PURPOSE:To reduce the widthwise dimensions of a manipulating device and to enhance the utility thereof by mounting a rotary member to the upper part of a bracket through the intermediary of a sphere, and by attaching a manipulating lever, a select arm and a shift arm to the rotary member. CONSTITUTION:When a manipulating lever projected from the upper part of a rotary member 9 is tilted longitudinally from its vertical attitude, a first arm 11 projected from the lower part of the rotary member 9 swings longitudinally about a sphere 4, as a center, which is attached to a bracket 2 through the intermediary of a support rod 3. Then, a second cable 23 is moved back and forth through the intermediary of a second rod 29 so as to shift a transmission to a third or fourth stage position. Meanwhile, when the manipulating lever is swung vertically form its vertical attitude, a second arm 12 projected from the side section of the rotary member 9 swings vertically, and a bellcrank 19 swings vertically. Then, a first cable 22 is moved through a first rod 28 so that the transmission is set to first, second or backward stage position. |
