<p>PURPOSE: To improve the operability by providing a means which reads out an explanatory sentence corresponding to an erroneous operation from a storage means by operation of a help key in the state of this erroneous operation of a key input means and displays this sentence on a display means. CONSTITUTION: Switching from the document input mode to the function mode on the way of user's input of a desired sentence is detected by a state discrimination processing unit 17a; and if a help key 13 is operated in this state, a state explanation message corresponding to an operated function key is read out from a help memory unit 23 and is successively displayed on a display unit 12. When an unacceptable key is operated and the help key 13 is operated, an error reason message is read out from the help memory unit 23, and an explanatory sentence of the error reason, an acceptable key, and an explanatory sentence of its function are displayed. Thus, the user can continue the operation without interruption, and the operability is improved.</p> |
