Process for protecting steel pipes in saline waters against corrosion and reducing the internal friction coefficient of the fluid conveyed. The process consists in covering with PVC or plastic walls screwed steel pipes commonly employed in the oil industry, by sleeving by force. The process makes use of a fitting bench made of wood to facilitate the slip phenomenon, on which is placed a steel pipe threaded at the two end parts with the aid of a guide consisting of a steel pipe forming a protector. The guide fulfils two essential functions for this process of manufacture by sleeving by force: 1) it prevents the PVC or plastic from folding, breaking or being distorted, 2) it pushes the PVC or plastic tube by means of a translational pulling movement, driven by a steel cable which winds around a winch; blocking being provided by a stop placed at the end of this guide. <IMAGE>
