摘要 PURPOSE:To perform a bach face machining operation immediately after a front face machining operation by installing a tool holder for back face machining to a tailstock unit capable of 90 deg. turning, and loading a pickoff unit to a capstan rest which can be moved and positioned in X-axis and Z-axis directions. CONSTITUTION:After a primary machining operation is completed, a front tool post 8 is positioned at a specified relief position, a rear tool post 6 moves in X1, Y1-axes directions and is positioned at a specified turning position, a rear capstan rest 6 turns and a pickoff device 7 is indexed at an indexed position, and the rear tool post 6 advances to a center-line slide of a main spindle in X1-axis direction and the main spindle of the unit 7 becomes concentric with the main spindle 3. A finished portion of the head of a work which moves to the chuck 4 side of the main spindle in Z1-axis direction and is held in the main spindle 3, is inserted into a chuck of the unit 7. Thus, the transfer of the work is completed. Then, the tool post 3 moves, and the work held in the unit 7 is positioned at a cutting starting position in front of a back face machining tool T3 of a tailstock unit 12, thus the main spindle of the unit 7 rotates and a secondary machining operation is performed by feeding the tool post 5.
