For the transport chain for tentering machines for the treatment of fabric webs, consisting of outer and inner plate links (12, 13) connected to joint pins (11), of needle-bar carriers (7) and of ball bearings (14) arranged on the joint pins, which transport chain is assigned at least one sliding strip (4, 6) arranged parallel to the path of movement of the transport chain and located adjacent to the needle-bar carrier (7), the object, for a known simple transport-chain construction, to reduce the wear considerably or to allow higher rotational speeds as a result of a further simplification of the design of the transport chain, is achieved in that the needle-bar carrier (7) has, on the side adjacent to the sliding strip (8), the form of a continuous horizontal U-profile, the closed side of which faces the sliding strip (8). <IMAGE>
