Known shearer loaders are equipped with three drive motors, of which the two outer drive motors are each allocated to one of the two cutting drums. The third drive motor located inside the machine body between these drive motors is connected to the drive motor which drives the front cutting drum in the machine travel direction in order to increase its drive power. Shearer loaders of this type of construction have a relatively large overall length. The proposed shearer loader is intended to be distinguished by a short overall length but at the same time is also intended to supply the leading cutting drum with the drive power necessary for operating it. To this end, the housings of both drive motors (12) of the shearer loader (1) are attached non-rotatably in the interior of the machine housing, for example in one bore each. Furthermore, their rotors are in drive connection with one another and with the associated cutting drum (7), and both supporting arms (8) are pivotably attached to the machine body independently of their drive motor (12). This arrangement enables the diameters of the motors (12) to be largely adapted to the overall height of the machine body. Furthermore, load compensation between both drive motors (12) is effected on account of the motor rotors coupled to one another, and it is ensured that independent pivoting movements of both supporting arms (8) are possible. <IMAGE>
