A device (1) serves to transfer articles, such as sweets, between a delivery wheel 2 and a jaws (4) of a take-up wheel (5) for packaging. The device (1), takes the form of levers (9, 10) mounted to a pair of coaxial shafts (7, 8). Blocks (11) with clamping faces (11.1, 11.2) are carried on the levers and hold the articles during transference. A mechanism drives the shafts (7, 8) so that the levers perform independent movements and change positions during one operative cycle, so that lever 10 moves upwards to clamp article 14 to face 11.1, and the device moves to deliver the article to a pair of jaws 4, lever 10 then retraces its path to take up the original upper position of lever 9, and lever 9 moves on to take up the original lower position of lever 10, ready to reverse roles. Wheel 2 therefore does not have to wait for a return movement of lever 10 to the lower position as originally. <IMAGE>
