<p>A composite sheet material comprises a longitudinal series of laterally extending tubular corrugations, ridges or ribs 19 which are formed in a crepe sheet material 22, e.g. crepe paper, and constitute a gross crimp imposed without distortion of the crimps in the initial crepe sheet material 22, the tubular ribs being maintained by a series of rows of stitches 7. Wefts 20 may be included and there may be a plurality of layers of sheet material through which the stitches pass.
