Improved semi-trailers (1) for rail or road travel have a detachable road bogie (2) and a detachable rail bogie (4). They can therefore travel on rails with the rail bogie (4) alone and by road with the road bogie (2) alone, with all the ensuing advantages as regards construction, operation and organization. Other improvements concern means for mounting the rail bogie (4), means (5, 6) for coupling the semi-trailers, and in particular adapter bogies (C-A) for mounting on the ends of a semi-trailer or a series of semi-trailers to permit their incorporation into a normal railway convoy, in which coupling between vehicles is effected by hooks and buffers. The improvements also permit substantial simplification of the hydraulic circuits of each semi-trailer which are limited mainly to the circuits needed to raise or lower the rear end of the road bogie (2). |
