Installation for processing mail, which includes a machine 1 for putting into envelopes, delivering these by means of a horizontal output belt 2 or a similar ejection means, and a franking machine 3 having a slit 4 for receiving these envelopes, parallel to the belt but placed at a different height. According to the invention, the installation includes a conveyor 10 placed between the belt and the slit, provided with an endless band 22 extending in a direction inclined to the horizontal, this band moving along a direction perpendicular to that of the belt and that of the slit and comprising means 12 for guiding the envelopes during their transfer, these means ensuring that they are oriented in a specified position, identical for each envelope. <IMAGE>
