Method of reducing oxide ore, concentrate or intermediate products consists of blasting reduction gas through at least three nozzles onto the surface of a charge located in a cylindrical furnace with a speed of above 100 m/sec. and below 300 m/sec such that a stirring effect is achieved. As the gas still contg. a high amt. of CO and H2 is rising up the sides of the furnace, it is further blasted from air nozzles located radially on the side wall of the furnace. The first set of nozzles partially burns the gas and the second set fully burns the gas as it flows tangentially upwards into the top part of the furnace.
