PURPOSE:To improve wettability with water and org. material and to increase the density of green molded from and sintered compact, by treating non-oxide ceramic powder with a hydrophilic coupling agent. CONSTITUTION:The coupling agent having -(CH2CH2O)n- in the molecule and having hydrophilic functional group such as -OCH3, -COOCH3, -CH2OCH3, -COOH, -NH2, -CN, -OH or -NHCONH2 as terminal group, is dissolved in the water contg. small amt. of hydrochloric acid or acetic acid and heated at <=100 deg.C to hydrolyze and activate. Then, the non-oxide ceramic powder (e.g., Si3N4) is put in this soln. and stirred to react the hydrophilic functional group on the surface of the powder with the coupling agent and form a reacted layer on the surface of the powder, dried and thereafter, treated by heating at <=150 deg.C. |
