OPERATING DEVICE FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

PURPOSE:To ensure traffic safety by providing a blocking member for blocking a detent pin provided on the lower portion of a shift lever from being shifted the P range position of a detent plate to the other range position when a brake is turned OFF. CONSTITUTION:A shift lever 2 supported on the lower end of a lever bracket 1 swingably forward and backward is formed on the lower end with a vertical slot 2a in which a detent pin 5 urged upward is disposed. The pin 5 can be pressed downward by the depressing operation of a switch 6 on the upper end of lever bracket 1. A detent plate 7 is secured fixedly to the upper surface of lever bracket 1 so that the pin 5 is inserted through a step-wise profile hole 7a formed in said plate 7. A solenoid 9 is secured fixedly to the front end of detent plate 7 so that a blocking member 10 is protruded rightward by the excitation of solenoid when a brake is turned OFF to block the pin 5 from being shifted from the P range position to the other range position.
