In a plain, taper or needle roller bearing comprising a number of primary load-bearing rollers 5 arranged circumferentially between inner and outer tracks 1, 2 a smaller idle roller 6 is entrapped by and between each pair of primary rollers and the inner track. The idle rollers are thrown outwardly against the primary rollers in use to ensure the correct circumferential spacing and axial alignment of the primary rollers. The bearing is capable of withstanding a higher load and running with less friction than an equivalent caged bearing. <IMAGE>
