A harmful gas control system and a controlling method thereof are provided to evacuate subway users by detecting the concentration of harmful gas and informing a supervisor of the detected concentration of harmful gas and to remove harmful gas components by supplying a control signal to an oxygen generation module. A harmful gas control system comprises at least one gas detection module(100) and a state management module(200). The gas detection modules are installed at the platforms of the subway to detect the concentration of harmful gas generated at the platforms, in real time and transmit information about the concentration of harmful gas. The state management module is installed at the total state management place and connected with the gas detection modules through the communication network. The state management module receives information about the concentration of harmful gas transmitted from each gas detection module and then, provides alarm state information of the correspondent harmful gas by comparing the received information about the concentration of harmful gas with alarm state information set in a gas information database in advance.
