#CMT# #/CMT# The barrier (1) has a slide (30) connected to a support (2) e.g. concrete wall, by a fender, and comprising stringer elements (33a, 33b). The stringer elements slidably cooperate with holding elements (31a, 31b) to adjust relative position of the stringer elements. A traversing screw (34) fixes the stringer elements with respect to the holding elements in a utilization position. The screw is calibrated such that the stringer elements slide relative to the holding elements, in case of an impact by a vehicle, to absorb a part of the energy of the impact by friction. #CMT# : #/CMT# Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for installing a safety barrier (2) a method for improving absorption of energy of an impact against a safety barrier. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Safety barrier for being arranged along a traffic lane for a small clearance vehicle e.g. car (claimed), and a large clearance vehicle e.g. lorry. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The screw is calibrated such that the stringer elements slide relative to the holding element, in case of impact, to absorb the part of the energy of the impact by friction, thus ensuring the absorption of the energy of the impact without deforming the constitutive elements of the barrier, and hence allowing the maintenance department to arrange the elements in the utilization position after the impact, while avoiding the need to replace the elements. The barrier has reduced number of pieces, so that the barrier is light in weight, and is simple and inexpensive to assemble.
