PURPOSE:To enhance recording sensitivity and preservability by providing a plurality of ink layers which differ in dye content and at least one of which has a high dye content, in a laminate form on a base. CONSTITUTION:An ink layer 2 and an ink layer 4 have low dye contents, whereas an ink layer 3 has a dye content of at least 50%. The ink layer having a high dye content contains a large amount of a dye contributing to transfer through sublimation, and therefore enhances recording sensitivity. If the ink layer 3 is provided solely, the adhesion of the layer 3 to a base 1 is weak, which may cause a preservability problem. With the ink layer 2 provided between the base 1 and the ink layer 3, adhesion properties are improved, and preservability is enhanced. If the ink layer 3 is provided as the outermost layer, the dye contained therein may be transferred onto a surface not provided with the ink layer, during storage of this thermal transfer sheet in a rolled form. With the ink layer 4 provided on the ink layer 3, transfer of the dye hardly occurs during storage, and preservability is enhanced. |
