<p>A tenter frame (10) for spreading and treating open widths of a moving fabric (F) which includes a pair of endless tenter chains (12) each of which has a plurality of upstanding pins (14) adapted to engage opposed edges of the fabric for transporting the fabric (F) through the tenter (10) through a first generally horizontal plane. Feed roll means (16) are provided for guiding the fabric (F) which has an upper periphery located in a second generally horizontal plane which is higher than the horizontal plane of the tenter chain (12). A static decurling means (30) is disposed along each side of the tenter frame (10) at a point between the ends of the tenter chains (12) and the feed roll (16) and extends in a generally inclined plane which intersects the first plane and second plane. The decurling means (30) contacts the edges of the moving fabric (F) and removes this curl, folds and the like from the edges for guiding the fabric (F) towards the tenter chains (12). Nip rolls (20, 22) are provided which have a nip in the horizontal plane of the tenter chain (12) adapted to receive the moving fabric (F) as it traverses through the decurling means (30) for maintaining the fabric edges in a flattened uncurled condition. An arcuate plate (58) is disposed between the decurling means (30) and the nip rolls (20, 22) for generally bridging the distance between the nip rolls (20, 22) and the decurling means.</p> |
