PURPOSE:To solve the discontent or the like associated with a wait time until the restart of an operation, without an increase in cost, by providing a non- printing time through moving a printing head backward for a predetermined time on each operation of printing one character when the temperature of the head is raised to or above a predetermined temperature. CONSTITUTION:When the temperature of a printing head 1 exceeds a temperature Tu during printing of the n-th line, the printing of the n-th line is continued to completion, and the head 1 is returned to the leftmost position 1. In a printing operation for the (n+1)th line, the head l starts an approach run from the leftmost position I to reach a fixed velocity at a printing-starting position I', prints one character at that position, is stopped at a position C, and is returned to a position B. Next, the head 1 starts an approach run from the position B to reach the fixed velocity before arriving at a position D, prints one character, is stopped at the position D, and is returned to the position C. Thereafter, a similar operation is repeated. When the temperature of the head 1 is lowered to or below a temperature Td during printing of the (n+m-1)th line, a normal operation is restarted at the (n+m)th line. |
