PURPOSE:To implement a low-cost, simple gradation representation, by applying a print drive pulse to an electrostriction element and then an auxilliary pulse different from the print drive pulse with a delay time according to a print density information. CONSTITUTION:Displacement of a vibration unit to generate a pressure wave in a ink flow room differs as D1, D2 and D3 according to the voltage of drive voltage pulse Vp1,Vp2, Vp3 to be applied to an electrostriction element. Signals SA, SB, SC of 3-bit print density information are applied to a main pulse generation circuit 15 via an OR circuit 13 to form a main pulse signal S0. Signals SA, SB, SC passes through a latch circuit 11 to go to a delay circuit 12, which detects the fall of the main pulse signal S0 to form an auxilliary pulse signal S1 with a proper delay time according to print density information. Signals S0, S1, via an OR circuit 16, are amplified to desired voltages by an output amplifier 17 and output as a drive waveform Vp. Thus, the displacement of the vibration unit is controlled. |
